The MSWG sUAS team successfully acquired RGB photography using the RX1R11 camera yesterday, covering close to 1,000 acres. To keep the acquisition within the recommended 55-minute flight time and maintain VLOS, I divided the area into three parts of approximately 300-350 acres each. We were able to maintain VLOS at 394 AGL and 3,786’ from our Home Point in mostly sunny and broken clouds with a light haze atmosphere, resulting in a collection of 4,088 photographs. I am currently processing the photos using Drone Deploy and will create separate orthomosaic maps for each area before attempting to use all photos in a single map.
The Wingtra performed without incident, and we were able to capture each area on a single battery. Our longest flight was 54 minutes, and the shortest was 49 minutes.
