Training Checklist

1. Overview

  1. Wing Kits. CAP HQ widely distributed Skydio 2 drone kits to all Wings. Each Wing has multiple kits to support aircrew training and corporate missions. CAP HQ retains multiple caches of more Skydio 2’s, which can be sent nationwide upon request for special training events or missions.
  2. Loss of Drone Deploy. Skydio recently pulled the Skydio 2 out of the consumer market. This exit move led to a fallout with Drone Deploy, which no longer supports autonomous flight for the airframe. This means the only way to do mapping and modeling missions is by purchasing Skydio’s proprietary 3D Scan software, which is prohibitively expensive for an average Wing to invest in a license across multiple airframes.
  3. Good Trainer Drone. The Skydio 2’s system quality is good for training events and corporate missions. Photography and video all look great. The 360° obstacle avoidance is very sophisticated, enough that you can feel highly confident flying it indoors (with sufficient room).
