1. Overview
- CAP requires sUAS Mission Technicians (UAST) and sUAS Mission Pilots (UASMP) to demonstrate proficiency with the Mission sUAS Task Guide’s Body of Knowledge.
- Required knowledge is broken up into “tasks,” and each task must be learned and then demonstrated to a Skills Evaluator Trainer (SET) who signs off on the task.
- Getting signed off on tasks is how trainees progress through their UAST and UASMP Skill Qualification Training Worksheet (SQTR).
- Completing the UAST or UASMP SQTR is how sUAS Aircrew becomes fully qualified to serve on a wide scope of priority missions.

2. Task Guide Versions
Original Version (2019)
The Task Guide was originally published as a PDF by CAP in 2019 and posted to the Go Civil Air Patrol Website. It has been attached below for convenience.

Drone Wiki Version (2024+)
This Wiki uses the original Task Guide as a base layer or scaffolding. It then integrates new technical knowledge and CAP sUAS programmatic changes developed since 2019. CAP Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from NHQ and individual Wings have partnered with AZWG to help author this project. CAP NHQ approves this version.
