1. CAPR 70-4 - CAP sUAS Flight Management

CAPR 70-4 is the main regulation that governs day-to-day operations of sUAS within CAP. Go and download a copy on GoCivilAirPatrol under Indexes, Regulations and Manuals. Look for “R70-4: CAP sUAS Flight Management”.

CAPR 70-4 applies in all cases, except for:

• Stem Kits
• Approved Maintenance Facilities
• USAF; CAP-USAF
• Other special use specifically approved by the CAP-DO

2. Programmatic Updates

These are occasional briefs about the sUAS program released by the CAP-DOU (NHQ Drone Program Manager). They come down through direct email channels from CAP-DOU, to Regional DOUs, to Wing DOUs. Once received by AZWG, they are posted to Programmatic Updates for CAP sUAS.

Programmatic updates can contain:

• Interim modification to regulations
• Information about the evolving direction of CAP’s sUAS program
• Metrics on benchmark figures like pilots certified, sUAS fleet size
